The effect of different green manure application in dry land condition on some soil physical properties

With the aim of the improvement water retention in dry land condition by green manure application, this study was carried out with or without rye green manure along with 4 nitrogen fertilization rate in green manure-wheat rotation system between 2001 – 2007 years. Results showed that the green manure application effects were significant on the soil aggregate stability, soil bulk density and available soil water (AWC). Our data showed that there are regression relationships with highly correlation coefficient between the levels of N–application with green manure and soil moisture indexes. Our results also showed that green manure application had significant effect on soil water infiltration rate whereas higher and lower infiltration rate was belong to C/N=36 and C/N=20 treatments respectively at 30 min, adjusted Kostiakov model was determined as a best predictable model for infiltration.
